Shamanism and Soul Recovery

"Shamanism represents the most widespread and ancient methodological system of mind-body healing known to humanity" (Michael Harner, The Way of the Shaman.) It is found in every culture in some point in that culture's history. Shamanism still exists in many cultures today and is returning as more and more people are changing back to the old ways to gain a greater understanding and balance with nature, Mother Earth and themselves. It is through this understanding that we can heal ourselves, others and the Earth.

Shamanism is not just a skill or technique, but a way of life. A shaman's life is a way of walking one's talk, of living a heart centered existence. Shamanism is a way to give honor to all living things and learn what they have to tell us. It is communication with "All that is". In the words of the Lakota Sioux, "Mitakuye Oyasin" - All My Relations. This is a prayer of oneness and harmony with all forms of life -- two footed, four footed, winged, finned, insects, trees, plants and rocks. It is a reminder that we are connected to all aspects of Creation and share a common kinship in the circle of life.

A Shaman is a healer, a teacher, a counselor and a guide. He/she is a person who chooses to leave his/her reality and move into the unseen worlds around them to help or heal. Through this journey, the shaman is able to enter another's reality to retrieve the other's life force, receive guidance and support and remove unwanted inclusions/attachments from the person for healing and growth. This is known as Soul Recovery and Extraction.

Soul Recovery is a modern term. Often in our reality we encounter challenges that distance us from our true selves and weaken us when we allow these encounters to deplete our life force. To preserve our self and our reality, we leave "pieces" of our self behind. Soul Recovery aids in recovering these lost or stolen (see FAQ) pieces of the individual's "soul being". The shaman journeys into altered state and with the aide of his/her guides, is able to return the missing pieces as well as information surrounding the loss of the piece. This information enables you to learn more about yourself and gives you additional tools to continue on your path to self-empowerment.

Extraction means to remove a THING from the aura and/or chakras or energy body. These "things" or blocks can appear in all different forms -- an object such as a dagger or an arrowhead, a snake or other animal or discoloration. These blocks can effect the movement of the chakras and can create stress on a system or organ of the body. Over time, this stress causes the system to dysfunction. Extraction of these blocks allows the energy system to operate more smoothly and increases vitality and life force.

Shamanic healing is helpful at times when you feel at a crossroad in your life -- during a life crisis, relationship problems, depression and when you feel stuck. It is helpful for inner child work. It can also help when you have lost a loved one, when you reach a spiritual impasse and when you are preparing for a new phase in your life. Everything that happens to us, whether it be physical, emotional, mental or spiritual, impacts our Spirit. Shamanic healing works at the deepest levels of your Spirit, providing you with tools for growth and self-empowerment.
